Forget-me-not—Myosotis scorpioides

This diminutive flower pops up all over the woods near my home, in tufts along the river, in seed spreads that carpet parts of our path through the trees.

Blue flowers are a particular favorite of mine. I've been known to swivel my head nearly 180 degrees while driving past a garden with a blue-flowering anything, causing adrenaline rushes for my husband.

One of my favorite displays of this flower, that's also known as mouse ears for the shape of its petals, appears in the spring in the backyard of friends in Hanover. When you catch it at its height, it gives the impression of a light blue cloud hovering just under the trees at the edge of the grass.

Tomorrow, we will accompany my Mom to the national cemetery. Forget-me-nots seem appropriate for today.
